WHAT IS KYBELLA?

Kybella is the only FDA approved injectable to treat unwanted fat under the chin, aka "double chin."

The main ingredient of Kybella is deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body. When deoxycholic acid is injected into the fat cells, it "cracks open" the fat's cell membrane and causes it to spill its fat contents out. That fat is then metabolized out of our body, usually through urine. Kybella is permanent fat removal because once the fat cells are destroyed they will not come back. On average, Kybella takes 2-4 sessions to see desirable results.

HOW IS KYBELLA ADMINISTERED?

Kybella is administered by needle with a series of pokes in the chin area. Prior to the treatment you will receive numbing cream. Most people do not find the Kybella injections uncomfortable. The amount of injections is patient variable and depends on the size of the area.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The majority of patients will need 2-4 treatments before aesthetic goals are achieved. Treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart. If you cannot commit to multiple treatments, then Kybella will not be right for you.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR KYBELLA?

-You have mild to moderate fat under the chin that bothers you

-Your "double chin" will not go away despite diet and exercise

-You do not want to have surgery

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS:

​-Swelling

-Bruising

-Redness

-Numbness

You cannot receive Kybella if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
